This painting depicts an image of my father as a young aboriginal boy, and the story he told me many years ago.  My father lived in Thallon, Southwest of Queensland, and as a young boy he enjoyed exploring the bush away from his home.  This one day on his travels he came across a colony of Echidnas, and was so fascinated by them, he use to sit quietly and watch them from a distance as he didn’t want to scare them away.  My father went as often as he could to see the Echidnas, as he found these beautiful creatures so amazing.

The Echidnas have a very long tongue, approximately 18cm in length and have no teeth, and the tongue is quite sticky, and its diet consists of ants and termites.
